CongoSky App Store · the store for the next billion
An ethical app store. For old phones.
The app store for BRICS and the third world. Old-phone-first, native-only, ethics-gated. We're replacing the virus-ridden, data-stealing, battery-draining bloatware with top-grade ethical apps — built slow, on purpose, so they run on the hardware people actually own.
Operation: clean house. Top-grade ethical apps, where the junk used to be.
The anti-bloatware mission
Most apps the next billion can install are hostile by design — they spy, they nag, they bloat, and they assume a phone you can't afford. We hold a higher bar.
- Old-phone-first. Built for a five-year-old handset and an ancient OS version. We build slow, on purpose, so nobody is left behind by a spec sheet.
- Native only — always. Real native tooling for each platform. Never Flutter, never React Native. Native is doctrine, not preference: it's what runs lean and lasts on weak hardware.
- Ethics-gated. Every app is reviewed by a human against a hard ethics bar before it's listed. No surveillance ads, no data harvest, no dark patterns.
- A free library for the people. Great apps and ideas that aren't monetised join the free CongoSky app library — useful tools, kept free, kept clean.
Two ways in
Whether you've built something or just dreamed it up, there's a door for you. Every submission is read by a human.
- Submit an app you've built It's reviewed against the ethics bar below. Meet the lines, and we list it — native, old-phone-ready, honest.
- Submit an idea Don't have it built? Pitch the idea. If it's great and you're not looking to monetise it, it can join the free CongoSky app library — built by us, kept free for everyone.
The ethics bar — the hard lines
Every app in the store clears all of these. No exceptions, no "premium" carve-outs.
Never sell user data. Never take surveillance-advertising money. Never ship a battery-draining background spy. Never betray Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu.
Submit to the store
The store is in design — the intake desk isn't wired to the platform yet, but we read every submission by hand. Fill this in and it'll open your mail app addressed to us; once the platform is live, the same form will submit straight through.
We review every submission by a human — no bots, no auto-rejections. We'll be in touch. Thank you for helping clean house.
No problem — email it straight to us instead: store@congosky.cloud. A human reads every one.
How review works — and what "the free library" means
A person reads every submission against the ethics bar above. There is no automated gate and no scraped store ranking — a human decides, and you hear back from a human.
If you want to charge for it
Great — keep your app, keep your revenue. We list it like any honest store would, provided it clears the bar. The store takes a fair, transparent cut, never a hidden one.
If you don't (the free library)
If your app — or your idea — is genuinely useful and you're not looking to monetise it, it can join the free CongoSky app library: a shelf of clean, native, old-phone-ready tools that anyone can install at no cost, forever. Submitted ideas we love and you don't want to build, we may build ourselves and credit you. The point is the same either way: replace the junk with something good.
Native-only, no exceptions
We won't list Flutter or React Native apps. Not snobbery — survival. Cross-platform wrappers are heavier, slower, and shorter-lived on the weak hardware our users actually own. Native is the only way to keep the promise of "works on old phones."
Part of the CongoSky platform — Khuluma (speak), Lalela (play), Ikhaya (home), Emancipation (leave the walled gardens), and the App Store (the shelf).
